Field Officer – 3 Positions
Organization Profile:
Karibu Tanzania Association (KTA) is a civil society organization which contributes to socio-economic advancement of a Tanzanian society through folk education and adult learning as a way to ensure progressive communities, democratic practices, good leadership, moral standards and ethical values on a contractual basis for sustainable development. KTA seeks to recruit qualified Tanzanian females for the positions of Field Officer for our Mama Course Program which is based in Three Folk Development Colleges (FDCs) at Ikwiriri- Rufiji, Bigwa-Morogoro, and Mbinga- Ruvuma.

Position Overview:
Field Officer (she) will be responsible for all social welfare and empowerment issues to our Mama course participants so as they complete well their two years of study at the college. The main function will focus on empowerment, guidance and counselling of the Young Single Mothers, and ensure smooth operation of project activities in cooperation with college Principal, Coordinator of Trainings, Programmes nurse, and other staff at the college. The Field Officer will report directly to the Programme Coordinator who is based at KTA main office in Iringa.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
1.      Develop and schedule project work plan in a college in accordance with the specification and funding limitation
2.      Ensure proper monitoring of the project activities
3.      Provide effective leadership and strategic management of the project activities including planning, directing, coordinating and supervision of the project activities at college level.
4.      Identify and document success and challenges of the programme
5.      Guide the participants to create income generating projects
6.      Ensure the welfare of kids brought by participants
7.      Liaise with local government officials and local government leaders
8.      Take part in the recruitment of baby care teachers (preschool teachers) and participants
9.      Perform other duties as assigned by KTA secretariat and FDC management

Minimum qualifications and experience required
·         At least two years of previous work in health services, social welfare and community mobilization with components in Reproductive health, Girls and women empowerment including working with government staff and government authorities in implementing gender based projects
·         Have passion/subscribe to KTA mission and a strong desire to impact a dynamic non-profit organization
·         Be an innovative and creative thinker that tries new things and inspires others to do so
·         Have a very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness
·         Have a strong work ethic which require minimal direction
·         Ability to work  independent as well as part of a team
·         Training, facilitation, monitoring and report writing skills
·         Knowledge and understanding of gender analysis in rural communities
·         Computer skills (Microsoft Office Package)
·         Proficient oral and written skills in English and Kiswahili
·         Firm belief in gender equality, sensitivity to HIV/AIDS and participatory approach and sustainable development.
  • Diploma in Community Development/ Social work/Adult education and any related field, a Bachelors Degree will be an added value.
  • Minimum of 1+ year in the related position.
  • Experience of working in a donor funded project will be an added advantage.
  • Willing to work in any of the 3 centres (Ikwiriri, Mbinga and Bigwa).
